Protection From Normal Weapons gives the wizard total invulnerability to non-magical weapons.

Description

Protection From Normal Weapons
When the spell is cast, it confers complete invulnerability to all non-magical weapons. This does not include weapons that are blessed or enchanted. This spell may not be cast on someone who is protected from magical weapons. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled.

Gameplay

The caster applies this spell to self only.

Upon completion of the spell a text is displayed reading "Protected from Normal Weapons".

The caster has a brief 3D effect and color glow animation rendered over their sprite.

A player character shows an icon (No. 70) titled "Protection From Normal Weapons" on their portrait for the spell's duration.

Additionally, a sound effect will audible when the spell expires.

The spell implements protection from all weapon attacks (melee or missile) that are classified as "non magical".

This spell can be removed by an appropriate Dispel Magic effect, or a Breach spell.

This spell is incompatible with Protection From Magical Weapons, and if that spell is attempted, it will fail, a text will display, reading "Cannot cast Protection From Magical Weapons when already protected from normal weapons".

The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition ruleset has no spell titled Protection from Normal Weapons. However, there is a 5th-level Wizard spell known as "Invulnerability to Normal Weapons". This spell creates an immobile, faintly shim­mering magical sphere around the caster that cannot be penetrated by non-magical blunt weapons, edged weapons, or missile weapons. The caster can use these weapons from inside the sphere to attack opponents normally. Spells can also be cast through the sphere. Any effort to combine this spell with magics that grant immunity to magical weapons cause this spell to fail immediately.
